Hussein Kurji

Episodic Lab 2022

Hussein is a fourth-generation Kenyan whose family migrated to East Africa more than a century ago. Hussein’s experience spans Kenya, Ireland, Switzerland, the United States, Australia and the United Kingdom. He attained a Master’s Degree in Digital Media (focusing on 3D Animation) from the College of Fine Arts (University of New South Wales) in Sydney, Australia. Through his writing, Hussein aims to challenge the tropes and stereotypes facing BIPOC and LGBTQ communities that he identifies with. Hussein’s diverse worldview gives him a unique perspective that he channels into his work. This led him to create his first series, THE SAMARITANS, Kenya’s first mocumentary, followed by high-end drama THE COLONY and geopolitical thriller BLUE GOLD. His newest project BUSHCAMP calls back on his comedic roots and his time as a hotelier. He resides in Nairobi, where as a co-founder of Xeinium Productions, he continues creating and developing engaging content across multiple platforms.
